What is a tax receipt? How Does it Work?

A charitable tax receipt is a written acknowledgment of a donation to a charity. This receipt will reflect the fair market value of the item donated. For example, a vehicle with a market value of $500 would receive a $500 tax receipt from Homeless Cars.

What does this mean for you? The tax receipt will prevent you from having to pay tax on $500 of your income. This saves you money while directly supporting those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in the community.

To get a tax receipt for the 2022 tax year, make sure you donate your vehicle by December 31st by submitting a donation form here.
